New Delhi : Indian National Congress (INC), MP Santokh Singh Chaudhary died due to a heart attack on Saturday morning while taking part in the ongoing Bharat Jodo Yatra in the northern state of Punjab in India. The 76-year-old veteran leader passed away on Saturday (January 14) morning. The Congress MP collapsed during a foot march in Punjab’s Phillaur. He was immediately taken to the hospital in Phagwara in an ambulance, but he did not survive. After Chaudhary’s demise, the Congress party temporarily suspended the yatra for the day.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who is leading the Bharat Jodo Yatra, rushed to the hospital where the veteran Congress leader was admitted.
Chaudhary won the Lok Sabha elections twice, in 2014 and 2019.
