Chandigarh: After the dispute between Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann reached the Supreme Court, Purohit on Thursday adjourned the budget session of the Punjab Assembly.
Governor Purohit has also given his assent to the Punjab Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management (Amendment) Bill (FRBM), 2023. The bill is to be introduced in the winter session of the Assembly, which is scheduled to take place in the last week. Of November.
Along with this, the three money bills which the government wanted to present in the Assembly have been approved by the Governor. The other two money bills – the Punjab Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2023, and the Indian Stamp (Punjab Amendment) Bill, 2023 – were approved on October 31.

It is noteworthy that the Punjab government had approached the Supreme Court last month against the Governor’s decision to declare the special meeting of October 20 invalid and refuse to give assent to the money bills.
The Governor was objecting to extending the session after its adjournment and calling a special meeting of the House without proroguing it.
