Indian parliamentary delegation to IPU participate in several important meetings/workshops

Kigali, Rwanda; 15th October: An Indian Parliamentary Delegation led by Shri Harivansh, Deputy Chairman, Rajya Sabha continued its participation in the 145th IPU Assembly being held in Kigali, Rwanda.

Dr. Sasmit Patra, MP addressed the Assembly during the Youth segment of the General Debate on the main theme “Gender Equality and Gender Responsive Parliaments as drivers of change for a more resilient and peaceful world”. He also participated in the meeting of the Committee to Promote Respect for International Humanitarian Law, and attended the expert hearing of the Standing Committee on Peace and International Security on the theme “Cyber Attacks and Cyber Crimes: The New Risks to Global Security”.

Smt. Aparajita Sarangi, MP participated in the Workshop on “Nutrition” organized IPU. She also participated in the panel discussion on the theme “Towards Gender Equality: Celebrating and Understanding the accomplishments of Women’s Parliamentary Caucuses”.

Shri Kartikeya Sharma, MP participated in a Workshop on the Rights of the Child, and attended the Session of Standing Committee on Democracy and Human Rights where the draft Resolution on “Parliamentary impetus to local and regional development of countries with high levels of international migration and to stopping all forms, including State sponsored, of human-trafficking and human rights abuses” was adopted.

Km. Diya Kumari, MP participated in the panel discussion of the Standing Committee of United Nations Affairs on the theme “The UN Response to Growing Hunger and Famine”.

Shri Vishnu Dayal Ram, MP participated in the Panel discussion of the Standing Committee of Sustainable Development on the theme “Reconnecting local communities with the local sustainable inclusive economy to achieve the targets of SDG 8”.
