LOK SABHA SPEAKER CONDUCTS INSPECTION OF ARRANGEMENTS FOR BUDGET SESSION IN PARLIAMENT HOUSE COMPLEX

New Delhi, 30 January : Ahead of the forthcoming Budget Session, Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla conducted an inspection of various arrangements and facilities in the Parliament House Complex. Shri Birla inspected the Lok Sabha Chamber, Central Hall, corridors, lobbies, waiting rooms and other areas in the Parliament House Complex with officers of the Lok Sabha Secretariat, CPWD, and other agencies.

Emphasizing on maintaining utmost standards of cleanliness during the Session, Shri Birla directed that all agencies work in unison to ensure a smooth conduct of the Budget Session.

Shri Birla also inspected catering facilities run by ITDC in Parliament House. He gave necessary instructions to the agencies concerned towards provision of clean, hygienic and nutritious food to Members of Parliament, media, officials of the two Secretariats and other visitors. He also gave directions to ensure regular sanitization of catering facilities.

Shri Birla also took stock of the security arrangements in the Parliament House Complex and directed the concerned officials to ensure unhindered access to Members of Parliament, while simultaneously maintaining highest standards of security.

Referring to the construction of the new Parliament Building, Shri Birla instructed all concerned agencies to strictly adhere to pollution control and other norms and ensure that the construction activities do not hamper the smooth running of parliamentary business during the Session. He added that smog towers and other necessary equipment for reducing air and noise pollution may be installed at the site.
