New Delhi: An Indian Parliamentary Delegation (IPD) led by Shri Om Birla, Hon’ble Speaker, Lok Sabha will be visiting Rome, Italy from 7-9 October 2021 to attend the Seventh G20 Parliamentary Speakers’ Summit (P20).
The Delegation will comprise of Shri Harivansh, Hon’ble Deputy Chairman, Rajya Sabha, Shri Utpal Kumar Singh, Secretary General, Lok Sabha and Dr. P.P.K. Ramacharyulu, Secretary General, Rajya Sabha.
The overall theme of the P20 Summit is “Parliaments for People, Planet and Prosperity”. The delegates will deliberate on three sub-themes under the broad ambit of the overall theme. A Joint Statement will be adopted at the end of the Summit.
Lok Sabha Speaker will participate in Session I on the theme “Response to the Social and Employment Crisis caused by the Pandemic”. He will be Keynote Speaker during Session II on the theme “Rebooting Economic Growth in terms of Social and Environmental Sustainability”. The Hon’ble Deputy Chairman, Rajya Sabha will address the distinguished gathering during Session III on the theme “Sustainability and Food Security after the Pandemic”.
On the sidelines of the extant Summit, the Hon’ble Speaker, Lok Sabha will also hold bilateral meetings with his counterparts from other participating Parliaments.
P20 is the Parliamentary dimension of G20 Member countries, representing around 80 percent of the global gross domestic product, over 75 percent of global trade and two-thirds of the world’s population.
