Ranchi : The Jharkhand government has appointed Professor Stephen Marandi, the MLA from Maheshpur of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), as the Pro-tem Speaker. Marandi is the senior-most legislator in the state, and it’s a tradition to assign the position of Protem Speaker to the senior-most legislator.
Reportedly, Rabindranath Mahato, the MLA from Nala of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), could be given the significant responsibility of Assembly Speaker once again. He successfully completed a five-year term and performed his duties with dedication, managing the house with poise. His efforts to maintain coordination with both sides, along with his approach to problem-solving, helped keep the proceedings on track.
Mr. Rabindranath Mahato has won the MLA election from Nala Assembly. He was born in 1960 in his native place Patanpur Jamtara. His father was a retired primary school teacher. He completed his graduation from Bhagalpur University. He also completed B.Ed from Utkal University Odisha.He started his political career as an independent candidate. He won his first election to Jharkhand Assembly from Nala in the year 2005. He lost the elections in 2009. In 2019, he was elected the 7th Speaker of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly.
Hemant Soren took oath as the 14th Chief Minister of the state and also assumed office on Thursday. After taking the oath, he also addressed a press conference and announced Stephen Marandi as the pro-tem speaker of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly. Notably, Soren created history by becoming CM of the state for the fourth time.
“Stephen Marandi has been chosen as the protem speaker of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly. The Jharkhand Legislative Assembly session will commence from December 9-12. Benefits under the Maiya Samman Yojana will be provided from December… The reasons for the deaths of candidates during the physical test in the Jharkhand Police recruitment drive will be done,” said CM Soren.
