BJP for CBI probe

BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh has demanded a CBI probe into the allegations of Punjab AAP leaders that they were being offered bribes to change their loyalty.

Chugh said that it is the most ridiculous joke that AAP is playing with Punjabis only because they want to divert people’s attention from the gross corruption committed while framing the liquor policy of the state.

The ruling AAP MLAs had filed a complaint against the BJP with DGP Gaurav Yadav that it was trying to bring down their government by giving money to its MLAs and/or threatening them.

Chugh said that the AAP government is doing cheap and misleading politics by going to the DGP after taking a complaint on the basis of fake calls, which will prove to be a disaster for Punjab in the coming times.

Led by the state’s most senior minister Harpal Singh Cheema, 11 party MLAs and Deputy Speaker of Punjab Assembly Jai Krishan Singh Rori submitted their written complaint to the DGP this afternoon. He has presented audio recordings of calls received by MLAs as evidence against saffron party leaders who had approached him.

A day after CM Bhagwant Mann is expected to return from Germany, the party high command has called a meeting of all AAP MLAs, MPs, municipal councilors and office bearers in Delhi on Sunday.

Earlier, the Finance Minister said that 10 of the 12 MLAs present with him were approached by the BJP to switch sides and join the saffron party.

While Cheema named two MLAs – Sheetal Angural and Baljinder Kaur – party sources said the names of other MLAs are being kept under cover for their safety.

Cheema was accompanied by MLAs Dinesh Chadha, Raman Arora, Buddha Ram, Kulwant Pandori, Narinder Kaur Bharaj, Rajneesh Dahiya, Rupinder Singh Happy, Sheetal Angural, Manjit Singh Bilaspur, Labh Singh Ugoke, Kuljit Randhawa and Deputy Speaker Jai Krishan Singh Rory. , Cheema said that Baljinder Kaur was supposed to accompany him, but she stuck with another commitment.

Meanwhile, Agriculture Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal met Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal today. While it was officially said that they discussed measures to be taken to stop stubble burning, sources said the situation arising out of the BJP’s attempt to grab AAP MLAs was also discussed. Unconfirmed reports also suggested that all the MLAs approached by the BJP are likely to meet top AAP leaders in Delhi tomorrow.
