New Delhi : It seems that opposition camp decided to ‘target’ presiding officers of both houses of Parliament! The tone of opposition members ‘indicates’ in coming days also they will follow this course of action ! Yesterday when opposition had ‘confrontation’ with Rajya Sabha Chairperson suddenly a move started to move an ‘impeachment motion’ against RS Chairperson Sh Jagdeep Dhankhar. According to press reports 87 members of opposition camp has signed on this motion.
At present the total strength of Rajya Sabha is 225. NDA strength is 101 and 86 are BJP members out of this . On other hand INDI alliance has 87 members. In this scenario the role of parties – YSR (11), BJD(8) and AIADMK (4), BRS (4), BSP and MDMK(1-1) be crucial.
But with the RS bye-elections of 3rd September BJP will be able to add 10 more members to its folds out of 12. Then BJP tally will be 96 and NDA’s 111.
After these bye-elections total strength of House will be 237 and majority mark will be 119. So, it will not difficult to defeat the opposition game plan for ruling NDA formation.
But the opposition is targeting the presiding officers to really target the government! In Lok Sabha, the opposition has not enough numbers to ‘attack’ the Speaker but on many occasions the opposition camp try to attack Speaker! In this session LoP Rahul Gandhi has duel with Speaker! Then SP head Akhilesh Yadav commented on speaker that ‘we had to save you from preventing the rights of you by govt.’
The strategy is to ‘demoralises’ the presiding officers to attack more government.
