Parliament of India Represents Hopes, Dreams And Aspirations of 140 Crore People of India : LS Speaker

New Delhi; 09 May- Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla addressed a delegation of young students affiliated with IIMUN in the Parliament House Complex today.

On this occasion, Shri Birla said that Indian democracy has stood the test of time and showed the way forward to the world. He added that the Parliament of India represents the hopes, dreams and aspirations of the 140 Crore people of India and provides solutions to their problems and issues.

Mentioning the historic journey of democracy in India, Shri Birla said that since ancient times, democracy has thrived in India and provided our people with the necessary conditions to ensure progress and growth. He added that the world has much to learn from India, which is not only the world’s largest democracy but also ensures that the values of diversity and democracy permeate all our actions.

Shri Birla underlined that the Constitution shows the path forward and protects the rights of every citizen. It ensures justice to the weakest members of society. Mentioning the strong commitment of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi towards constitutional values, Shri Birla was happy to note that ‘Know Your Constitution’ events have been held across the nation for the benefit of the youth. Shri Birla also emphasized on the duties enshrined in the Constitution and exhorted the youth to fulfill their constitutional duties to the best of their abilities.

Speaking about the strength of Indian Youth, Shri Birla hoped that the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of Viksit Bharat in 2047 would be fulfilled by Indian youth. He added that through hard work and dedication, along with innovation and research, our youth would take India to the forefront of the world. Noting the enthusiasm of the youth towards the electoral process, Shri Birla stressed that young voters must exercise their franchise and strengthen democracy.

Speaking about India’s rising stature in the world, Shri Birla said that today under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, India is setting the agenda for the entire world. He added that the spirit of Vasudhaiv Kutumbakam informs India’s actions on the world stage. Mentioning global initiatives like the International Solar Alliance, Shri Birla said that India is making important steps towards climate change mitigation.
