Jaipur: Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with the newly elected BJP MLAs and the party’s office-bearers at the BJP State headquarters on Friday, soon after arriving to attend the annual conference of senior police officials. Mr. Modi addressed a ‘Samvad’ programme in the central hall of the BJP office.
This was Mr. Modi’s first visit to Rajasthan after the formation of the BJP government in the State. He had earlier attended the swearing-in ceremony of Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and his two deputies here on December 15. Former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje was conspicuous by her absence in Friday’s programme.
Mr. Modi emphasised the ruling party’s vision for the State’s development and sought feedback from legislators, apparently with an eye on the upcoming Lok Sabha election. Emerging from the BJP headquarters, Minister of State for Revenue Vijay Singh Chaudhary told reporters that Mr. Modi had asked all the MLAs to “work honestly” to serve the people and extend the benefits of government schemes to the public at large.
