PPK Ramacharyulu appointed RS Secretary General by Chairman

New Delhi: Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu appointed Dr PPK Ramacharyulu, secretary General of Rajya Sabha. At present, he was working as Secretary in the Rajya Sabha Secretariat since 2018, to the highest office till further orders. He succeeds Desh Deepak Verma, who demitted office as SG on Tuesday after serving for four years.

PPK Ramacharyulu is the first insider to have risen from the ranks of the Secretariat as it’s ahead in about 70 years since the Rajya Sabha came into being in 1952. Nine such insiders have become the Secretary General of Lok Sabha so far. Born on March 20, 1958, Dr. Ramacharyulu has about 40 years of experience in handling various aspects of the functioning of the Parliament. He joined the secretariat in 1983 after serving in the Lok Sabha Secretariat for a year earlier.
