Privilege Notices Issued to Five BRS MPs For Displaying Placards in Rajya Sabha

New Delhi : Rajya Sabha privilege committee on Monday issued privilege notices to certain BRS MPs for brandishing placards in the House, news agency ANI reported. The act has been considered a violation of the Rajya Sabha rules. Lawmakers who have been served notice are- Keshav Rao, Kethi Reddy Suresh Reddy, Damodar Rao Divakonda, Vaddiraju Ravichandra and Badugula Lingaiah Yadav. A reply has been sought from the BRS MPs before November 28.

A complaint in this regard was lodged against the aforementioned BRS MPs by BJP MP Vivek Thakur during the special parliamentary session. Thakur filed a notice under Rule 188 of Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the Rajya Sabha.

The upper house chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar referred the complaint to the privileges committee for investigation. “On consideration of the facts, the Chairman, Rajya Sabha has referred the matter under Rule 203 of Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the Council of States (Rajya Sabha) to the Committee of Privileges for examination, investigation and report,” an official communication from the Rajya Sabha secretariat said.
