Privileges Committee to discuss Bidhuri, Danish Ali on October 10

New Delhi: The first meeting of the Privileges Committee of the Lok Sabha on October 10 will hear the complaints of MPs regarding the controversy involving Lok Sabha member Ramesh Bidhuri and Bahujan Samaj Party MP Danish Ali.

Sources said the committee will hear complaints received against Bidhuri after she used derogatory words against Ali in the House. In this, Ali will also be heard regarding his alleged inappropriate conduct during the discussion on Chandrayaan 3.

Speaker Om Birla had sent all the complaints received from the MPs to the Privilege Committee headed by BJP member Sunil Kumar Singh.

The BJP has also issued a show cause notice to Bidhuri in response to his comments, to which he has not yet responded. However, after this episode the party handed over election responsibility to Bidhuri in Rajasthan, where assembly elections are to be held next month, among others.

According to the agenda of the meeting, “Oral evidence of MP Bidhuri in respect of complaints received from various Members of Parliament against him and Ali for alleged inappropriate conduct during the discussion on ‘Chandrayaan-3 Mission’ in the House.” Source.

Opposition parties, which have demanded strict action including suspension of Bidhuri, are hitting out at the BJP, accusing it of trying to protect its MP instead of punishing him.

The issue was referred to the Privileges Committee of the House, although the Speaker had already removed the South Delhi MP’s unparliamentary comments.

BJP MP Nishikant Dubey wrote to the Speaker urging him to form an inquiry committee to probe Ali’s statements, alleging that the BSP MP made “highly objectionable” remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi which infuriated Bidhuri.

Dubey also condemned Bidhuri’s comments, saying that no civilized society can justify them and they cannot be adequately condemned.
