Raghav Chadha reaches High Court against eviction from government house

New Delhi: AAP’s Rajya Sabha MP from Punjab Raghav Chadha on Tuesday moved the Delhi High Court against “unfair eviction from the government bungalow allotted by the Rajya Sabha Secretariat”.

A Delhi court had last week lifted the interim stay granted to Chadha against the secretariat’s eviction orders. He has now moved the High Court against the orders of the trial court. The High Court will hear this matter tomorrow. The secretariat had earlier issued an order to evict him from the Type-7 bungalow, stating that first-time MPs are not eligible for a larger government accommodation.

Chadha said today, “They have snatched away my four-bedroom government flat from me but people from all over the country have sent their best wishes. I will fight till the end and will not bow down.” Addressing a press conference at the AAP party headquarters today, Chadha attacked the ruling BJP and alleged that 95 per cent of the cases by central investigating agencies were against opposition leaders.

He cited the money laundering case against AAP’s Satyendar Jain; The excise scam case against former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, the recent ED case against MP Sanjay Singh and the ED raid against Delhi MLA Amanatullah Khan.

“Amanatullah had got bail in the same case registered by the Anti-Corruption Bureau, but now the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has been sent after him,” Chadha said.

“Under UPA, the ED conducted 112 raids from 2004-14. But since 2014, 3,100 raids have been conducted.

Rajya Sabha reached Supreme Court against suspension

Raghav Chadha on Tuesday moved the Supreme Court against his indefinite suspension from the Upper House.
Chadha was suspended from the Rajya Sabha on August 11 on a complaint of ‘breach of privilege’ during the monsoon session. He was accused of including the names of five Rajya Sabha members in the proposed selection committee without their consent.
Chadha has been suspended until the privilege committee probing the case against him submits its report.
