Mumbai : Shiv Sena MLAs from factions led by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Uddhav Thackeray have been called for a hearing on Thursday regarding the disqualification petitions against them.
The hearings will take place in the Maharashtra Assembly in the presence of Speaker Rahul Narwekar.
Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) recently held a meeting with its MLAs to prepare them for the hearings starting from 14 September.
“We will be acting as per law and established procedure will be followed. All MLAs will be given the opportunity to submit their reply. Details of the hearing can’t be discussed before it happens as these are quasi-judicial hearings,” Narwekar said.
As the Speaker has to decide on multiple disqualification petitions, the 54 MLAs may be called again one by one or with MLAs of their faction.
On an earlier occasion, Narwekar’s office added that they would have to go through the party’s Constitution to decide who was the real Sena at the time of the split.
