New Delhi: The Parliament Committee on Official Language, headed by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, on Monday submitted the 12th volume of its report to President Draupadi Murmu.
“On Monday, met the Honorable President Smt. Draupadi Murmu along with the members of the Official Language Committee of the Parliament and handed over the 12th volume of the Report of the Official Language Committee to her. Also discussed the issue of formation of the Official Language Committee.” The Home Minister wrote in Hindi on ‘X’, “The official language is more popular.”
Between 1947 and 2014, nine volumes of Committee reports have been submitted, and since 2019, three volumes have been approved. These sections have been prepared subject wise and the topic of the 12th section is ‘Simplification’.
More than 15 MPs and junior home ministers Ajay Mishra and Nisith Pramanik were also present in the meeting with the President.
The 12th volume of the report of the Parliament’s Committee on Official Languages was approved in its 38th meeting held on 4 August. At the meeting, Shah had said that there could be no other opportune moment to promote Indian languages than that of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Proudly represents Hindi and all other Indian languages on global platforms.
Shah had said that Hindi does not compete with local languages and the country will be strengthened only by promoting all Indian languages. He praised PM Modi’s initiative to offer engineering and medical courses in 10 languages, including Hindi, and said that these courses will eventually be available in all Indian languages. That moment, he said, would mark the beginning of the rise of local languages and official languages.
Shah had said that the Prime Minister has not given a single speech in Parliament in English and Union ministers are following his example by giving speeches in Indian languages. He underlined, “This gives great momentum to the movement to integrate different languages.”
Shah said that the acceptance of official language does not come from any law or circular but from goodwill, inspiration and encouragement.
