New Delhi: In a fresh start, plans are being made to formally hoist the tricolor at the new Parliament House on September 17, a day before the start of the special session and on the occasion of Vishwakarma Puja, The Indian Express has learnt.
September 17 is also the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
According to sources, the special session running from September 18 to 22 will start in the old building and then move to the new building. This will be the first session to be held in the new Parliament, which was inaugurated by the Prime Minister on May 28.
On Tuesday, the Central Public Works Department, which constructed the new building, organized a “national flag hoisting ceremony” in front of the Gaj Gate, one of the three ceremonial entrances, by issuing a tender to hire a public address system. Started preparations. , According to two sources familiar with the development, this will be the first such formal flag hoisting in the new building.
With the session approaching, senior officials of the Union Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry and CPWD visited the new building on Tuesday. An official said last-minute checks were carried out on the audio levels in the Rajya Sabha and the multimedia system for MPs. An official said that apart from the existing Integrated Building Management System control room, another control room is being set up to address any issues that may arise during the session. The official said the café and kitchen in the new building are also likely to remain operational for the session.
Following the session, the new Parliament is set to host speakers from the legislatures of G20 countries for the Parliament20 meeting from 13-14 October.
