UGC advised to Universities and Colleges to get benefited from Parliament Library

New Delhi: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has advised to the Vice-Chancellors of all Universities and Principals of all Colleges/Institutes to avail the facilities of Parliamentary library which has more than 7 million volumes of books, reports etc. In a letter address to the Vice-Chancellors of all Universities and Principals of all Colleges/Institutes by UGC secretary M. Manish R. Joshi on 10th. May said “As you are aware, the Parliament Library is one of the finest and richest repositories in the country having a vast collection of about 7 million volumes of books, reports, Government publications, U.N. Reports, Debates, Gazettes and other documents, including periodicals, newspapers etc.

The Parliament Library is now open to all the citizens of the country. The visitors portal for online booking is available from 1lh August, 2022 at the Parliament Library website where visitors/ academicians, students, researchers etc. can book their slots to use the Parliament Library.

The searchable catalogue of books along with details of the services being offered by the parliament Library and also a large number of e-resources, can be accessed on the Parliament Library website which has the digitized Constituent Assembly Debates, Parliamentary Debates, Parliamentary Committee Reports, Prime Ministers’ speeches, Lok Sabha publications and many other documents from 1854 onwards.

The Higher Education Institutions are requested to disseminate information about the parliament Library accessibility and encourage the students, research scholars, faculty members, and others to visit the Parliament Library and get benefited from its varied and rich resources.”
