Uttarakhand assembly goes paperless; CM Dhami & Speaker launch e-Vidhan Sabha app

Dehradun: The budget session, which began today, saw an important step towards making the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly completely digital. Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and Uttarakhand assembly speaker Ritu Khanduri Bhushan launched the e-Vidhan Sabha application before the beginning of the budget session.

On this occasion, Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami said that this is the beginning of a new era in the democratic history of the state and this digital change will prove to be a milestone for the development of the state.

CM Dhami said the initiative towards making the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly digital will not only empower our parliamentary democracy but will also promote environmental protection and transparency. He added the proceedings of the assembly will be completely paperless. According to him, it will not only reduce paper consumption but ensures parliamentary work to be carried out in a fast, transparent, and effective manner.

Digital transformation

Through this digital transformation, the members of the Vidhan Sabha will now be able to submit their questions, proposals, notices, and documents digitally. This will make the proceedings of the Vidhan Sabha and parliamentary processes more accessible, faster, and technologically efficient. Besides, it will promote accountability and transparency, which is the basic feature of democracy.

Introduction of e-Vidhan Sabha application

Speaker of the assembly Ritu Khanduri Bhushan said that with the introduction of e-Vidhan Sabha application, all proceedings of the Assembly will now be completely paperless. This step will not only help in preserving environmental balance but will also help in making the functioning more consistent, transparent, and quick. Through this digital transformation, Uttarakhand will be established as a smart, capable, and environmentally responsible state.

Reduction of consumption of paper

The speaker Khanduri further added that now all the proceedings of the assembly will be done digitally, which will reduce the consumption of paper and promote environmental protection. There will be a faster, transparent, and effective working system due to which the proceedings will be completed faster due to the digital process and transparency will be promoted.

Improvement in Parliamentary democracy

According to her, the parliamentary process would be improved as members would be able to submit their questions, motions, notices, and documents digitally, making the process more streamlined. Moreover, this step towards digitalization will establish Uttarakhand as a smart and technologically capable state.
