Nellore: Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla addressed dignitaries and other invitees as the Chief Guest at the programme organized by the Swarna Bharat Trust, Nellore today.
Former Vice-President of India, Shri Venkaiah Naidu and Members of Parliament were also present on the occasion.
Observing that Shri Venkaiah Naiduji is the inspiration behind ‘Swarna Bharat Trust’ and his entire life has been devoted to the welfare of the society, Shri Birla said that the basic objective of the trust has been service & education of the less privileged and women’s upliftment. He was happy to note that under the leadership of Venkaiah ji, Swarna Bharat Trust is working strenuously to provide education to the children of weaker sections and training for self-employment to the youth.
Shri Birla lauded the facilities created by Swarna Bharat Trust and hoped that the Trust would continue its meaningful work of improving the quality of life of rural people by providing them education and health facilities. Shri Birla praised different activities of the Trust, such as vocational and computer training to make youth self-reliant, sensitization of farmers about alternative and commercial crops, self-employment training to local artisans and women working in cottage industries, health and education in rural areas, employment generation through skill enhancement etc.
He also appreciated that the trust did a remarkable job even during the time of lockdown. To help the needy and migrant laborers stranded in and around Vijayawada, the Trust distributed free food and food packets to over 1200 people free of cost. He hoped that the achievements of the Trust would serve as an exemplary benchmark for those who wish to serve the society and humanity.
Later, speaking at a function organized in the honour of Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu, Lok Sabha Speaker said that his journey from being an ordinary worker to the post of Vice President of the country is very inspiring and it always inspires our youth. Shri Birla suggested that the youth, who want to come in the field of public service, can learn a lot from Venkaiah ji.
Referring to Shri Naidu’s oratory skills, Shri Birla said that he is always keen to connect with people. He recalled that when he was contesting his first election from Kota, Venkaiah ji completely changed the election scenario by holding a meeting there.
Shri Birla further said that Venkaiah ji has been a source of inspiration to all fellow MPs throughout his parliamentary journey. Especially the young members of Parliament have benefited from his oratory skills. His in-depth knowledge of the subject, rich vocabulary and witty response has impressed everyone.
During the day, Shri Birla attended several other programmes.
