New Delhi, 11 January: Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla addressed the participants in the inaugural session of the final of National Youth Parliament 2021 organized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, and Lok Sabha Secretariat in the Central Hall of Parliament. Speaking about the youth and his contribution to nation building, Mr. Birla said that, before independence, Indian youth were at the forefront of the struggle for independence. In the same way, the youth of today should constantly strive to take India on the path of prosperity and progress. Shri Birla said that for the prosperity of the nation, it is imperative for the youth to contribute significantly, which is their responsibility as well as this duty. He said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi had given an important direction to the youth, who are working to take India forward and innovate through innovation during the Mann Ki Baat program in 2017. Mr. Birla expressed confidence that in the years to come, Indian youth will be at the forefront of an innovation-based world through their technical knowledge and skills.
Mr. Birla also said that in democracy we share our thoughts and experiences, debate and discussion and then come to a conclusion after extensive discussion. It is the strength of a democratic system that gives everyone the right to express their views. He hoped that the Youth Parliament would go a long way in strengthening the spirit of democracy keeping in mind the ideal of nationalism.
Earlier Shri Om Birla paid tribute to former Prime Minister Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri, whose death anniversary is being celebrated today. Mr. Birla said that Shastri ji, who adopted the values of simplicity and determination, gave the slogan ‘gan jai jawan jai kisan’ to the soldiers and farmers of India who build toilets everyday to keep their country safe and secure.
