Best wishes to all of you on Dhanteras, Lord Dhanvantari’s birth anniversary. Dhanvantari ji is considered the god of healing and Ayurveda has also been created with his blessings. On this auspicious day of today, Ayurveda Day, the whole human race is praying to Lord Dhanwantari to bless the whole world including India.

This time Ayurveda Day is special for Gujarat and Rajasthan, it is special for our young comrades. Today, the Institute of Teaching and Research in Ayurveda in Jamnagar, Gujarat has been recognized as the Institute of National Importance. Similarly, the National Ayurved Institute of Jaipur has been launched today as a deemed university. Many congratulations to Rajasthan and Gujarat as well as the entire country for these excellent institutes associated with higher education, research and skill development in Ayurveda.

Ayurveda is a heritage of India which extends to the well-being of all humanity. Which Indian will not be happy to see that our traditional knowledge is now enriching other countries as well. Today, the national policy of Brazil includes Ayurveda. Be it Indo-US relations, Indo-German relations, cooperation related to AYUSH and Indian traditional medicine system is increasing continuously. It is also a matter of great pride for every Indian that the WHO and now the Chief of WHO and my friends have made a very important announcement, WHO has chosen India from the world to establish its Global Center for Traditional Medicine and now Work will be done in this direction for the world from India. I also express my heartfelt gratitude to the World Health Organization, especially my friend Dr. Tadros, the Director General of WHO, for delegating this huge responsibility to India. I believe that just as India Pharmacy of the world has emerged in this way, this Center of Traditional Medicine will also become a Center of Global Wellness. This center will prove to be a new high for the development of traditional medicines around the world and the research related to them.

With the changing times, everything is being integrated today. Health is no different. With this thinking, the country is taking step by step towards the integration of different methods of treatment, giving importance to all. This thinking has made Ayush, Ayurveda a major part of the health policy of the country. Today, we are making our traditional treasury of health not just an option, but a big basis for the health of the country.

It has always been an established truth that India has such a huge heritage related to health. But it is equally true that this knowledge has been in most of the books, in the scriptures and little has been in the tips of grandmother and grandmother. It is very important to develop this knowledge according to modern requirements. Therefore, for the first time in the country, our ancient medical knowledge, which is that knowledge, is also being integrated, integrated, new research is being done with the information from modern science of 21st century. Three years ago, the All India Ayurvedic Institute was established here. Work is on to develop the National Sowa Rigpa Institute for research and other studies related to Sowa-Rigpa in Leh. Today, the two institutions in Gujarat and Rajasthan which have been upgraded, are also an extension of the same sequence.

It is said that when the height increases, the liability also increases. Today, as these two important institutions have grown in stature, I also have one request. Being the premium Ayurvedic Institute of the country, now you and all of you have the responsibility to prepare courses that are compatible with international practices and in line with scientific standards. I would also urge the Ministry of Education and the UGC to work with new possibilities on subjects like ayur-physics and ayur-chemistry. This can work to create Integrated Doctoral and Post Doctoral Curriculum to give maximum boost to research. Today I also have a special request from our start-ups, the private sector of the country. Private startups of the country, new start-ups should study the global demand for Ayurveda and ensure their share in the growth in this sector. For the local power of Ayurveda, you have to be vocal throughout the world. I am confident that not only Ayush but our whole system of health will witness a big change through our common efforts.

You are well aware that in the Monsoon Session of Parliament this year, two Historical Commissions have also been created. First- National Commission for Indian System of Medicine and Second National Commission for Homoeopathy. Not only this, the approach of Integration in Medical Education of India has also been encouraged in the new National Education Policy. The spirit of this policy is to have basic knowledge of Ayurveda in allopathic education and basic knowledge of allopathic practices in Ayurvedic education. These steps will further strengthen education and research related to AYUSH and Indian traditional medicine.

21st century India no longer thinks holistically, not in pieces. Health challenges are also now being solved in the same manner with holistic approach. Today, Wellness is being more focused on Preventive Healthcare along with cheap and effective treatment in the country. Acharya Charaka has also said – Healthy Health Protection, Asthma Disorder Treatment That is to protect the health of a healthy person and to cure the patient, these are the objectives of Ayurveda. Healthy people should remain healthy, with this thinking, every such step is being taken to remove the conditions that make them sick. On one hand, cleanliness, sanitation, toilets, clean water, smoke-free kitchen, nutrition are all being taken care of, while one and a half lakh health and wellness centers are being prepared in every corner of India. Of these, more than 12 and a half thousand Ayush Wellness Centers are completely dedicated to Ayurveda, becoming connected with Ayurveda.

This Indian philosophy of wellness is attracting the whole world today. This difficult time of Corona has again shown how effective this traditional learning of India related to Health and Wellness is. When there was no effective way to combat corona, many immunity booster remedies such as turmeric, milk and decoction came to the doorstep in India. Our tradition has played an important role in such a large population, such a dense population and if our country is in a stable condition today.

During the Corona period the demand for Ayurvedic products all over the world has increased rapidly. Exports of Ayurvedic products have increased nearly one-and-a-half times, nearly 45 percent in September this year compared to the previous year. Not only this, there has also been a significant increase in the export of spices. The export of turmeric, ginger, things that are considered immunity booster suddenly increase in such a way that shows the confidence in Ayurvedic solutions and Indian spices in the world. Now, in many countries, specialty drinks related to turmeric are also increasing. Today, the world’s prestigious medical journals are also seeing new hope, new hope in Ayurveda.

In this era of Corona, our focus was not limited to the use of Ayurveda alone. Rather, this difficult time is being used to advance research related to Ayush in the country and the world. Today, on one side, India is testing vaccine, on the other hand, on the other hand, it is also increasing international cooperation on Ayurvedic research to fight Kovid. Just now, our partner Shripad ji told that research is going on in more than a hundred places at this time. Here in Delhi itself, the All India Institute of Ayurveda, as you were told in detail, has done immunity research on 80 thousand Delhi Police personnel. It may be the world’s largest group study. There are also encouraging results. A few more international trials are to be started in the coming days.

Today, we are giving special emphasis to Ayurvedic medicines, herbs as well as nutritious foods that increase immunity. Today, farmers are being encouraged to increase production of coarse grains. Not only this, organic products are being promoted on the banks of Ganga ji and in the Himalayan regions. Emphasis is being laid on planting trees and plants related to Ayurveda, the effort is that India should contribute more and more in the wellness of the world, increase our exports and also increase the income of our farmers. The Ministry of AYUSH is working on a comprehensive plan for this. You must have also seen that after the start of the Kovid epidemic, the prices of Ayurvedic herbs like Ashwagandha, Giloy, Tulsi etc. increased because the demand increased, the confidence of people increased. I am told that this time the price of Ashwagandha has reached more than double than last year. Its direct benefit has reached our farmers families cultivating these plants, these herbs. Although there are many herbs, we still need to increase awareness about their usefulness. There are about 50 medicinal plants, which have great utility as vegetables and salads. Whether it is the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of AYUSH or other departments, the combined efforts of all can bring big change in this field.

In the development of this entire ecosystem related to Ayurveda, health and wellness related tourism in the country will also get a boost. Gujarat and Rajasthan also have immense potential for this. I believe that these two institutions of Jamnagar and Jaipur will prove beneficial in this direction as well. Once again, many congratulations to all of you. Today is small Diwali, tomorrow is big Diwali. My best wishes to you, your family too, for the holy festival of this Diwali.
