Jaipur: The budget session of the Rajasthan State Assembly, scheduled to commence on Wednesday, is likely to be stormy.
The session will begin tomorrow at 11:00 am with the customary address by Governor Haribhau Bagade and is expected to last for about a month.
The state budget for fiscal year 2026 – 27 is likely be presented in the House around February 10. The exact date would be finalised after discussions at the House’s Business Advisory Committee (BAC) meeting.
While the Speaker Vasudev Devnani has been making efforts for the smooth conduct of the proceedings in the House in a cordial atmosphere with due consensus, the Congress-led opposition has been gearing up to bring to the dock the government over burning issues.
“We will raise a strong voice of the people on all contentious issues, such as irregularities and deletions of voters’ names in the SIR process, deferment of the elections in Panchayati Raj institutions beyond the mandatory limits and ‘failures’ of the state government on different fronts,” a Congress Spokesman said.
In the bid to maintain a conducive atmosphere for the discharge of all scheduled business, the speaker was convening an all-party meeting to evolve a consensus among all parties. The meeting is likely to be held on Wednesday evening.
The last monsoon session of the House was held from September 1 to 10, 2025, and comprised six sittings.
