New Delhi : The central government is set to reintroduce the Delimitation Bill in the upcoming monsoon session of Parliament. Following opposition from various political factions in April, the government is now holding consultations with regional parties to build consensus. Sources indicate that several Members of Parliament from these regional parties have responded positively to the government’s approach and are awaiting a fresh draft of the bill. The move comes amid changing political equations in states like West Bengal and Tamil Nadu. The government plans to reinitiate discussions with the primary opposition party as well, aiming to address concerns primarily raised by southern states regarding the delimitation process.
