The Centre has initiated talks with leaders of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) amid its ongoing “Sansad Chalo” protest in New Delhi. Two CJP representatives met Union Minister J.P. Nadda after the government reached out for discussions, while Home Minister Amit Shah also held a meeting with Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan as demonstrations intensified around Parliament. The meeting marked the first formal engagement between the government and the protest leaders.
During the meeting, the CJP delegation submitted three key demands. These included the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, the government’s acceptance of responsibility for alleged irregularities in competitive examinations, and comprehensive reforms to make the examination system more transparent and accountable.
According to the delegation, Nadda sought time to discuss the demands with the government and appealed to the protesters to end their sit-in, but did not offer any immediate assurances.
The talks took place amid heavy security in the national capital, where clashes broke out between protesters and police during the Parliament march. The protest, initially centred on alleged examination irregularities, has grown into a wider movement demanding accountability and reforms in the education system. CJP leaders said they would wait for the Centre’s response before deciding their next course of action.
