New Delhi: Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister K.S. Eshwarappa has been dropped from the cabinet for his controversial remarks on hoisting the saffron flag at the Red Fort in future.
Veteran leader and Rajya Sabha member Mallikarjun Kharge met party legislators who were protesting for a long time in the assembly and expressed solidarity in their fight. Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Siddaramaiah, KPCC President D.K. Shivakumar, senior MLA K.R. Ramesh Kumar, U.T. Khadar, and Tanveer Sait held discussions with Mr. Kharge.
The protests by the Congress halted the functioning of both the houses of the legislature for three days from last Wednesday. Congress chief whip Ajay Sindh has issued a whip asking legislators to cancel all their programs till Monday to take part in the sleepless protest.
On Friday, Speaker Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri adjourned the assembly for Monday after Congress members protested in the Well of the House.
