Delhi: The crucial transformative projects underway at the Delhi Legislative Assembly complex, including the technological upgrades in line with the NeVA (National e- Vidhan Application), and the renovation, are expected to be completed by July 27.
Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta convened a high- level meeting here on Wednesday to review the ongoing modernization works, including the installation of 500 KW solar power plant, a major step towards green energy, that are progressing at a rapid pace.
In the meeting, Gupta was apprised that the ongoing works shall be complete by July 27, the assembly secretariat informed.
The monsoon session of the Eighth Delhi Assembly is expected to commence either at the end of this month or early August following completion of these projects, officials said.
The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Dharmendra Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary Bipul Pathak, ACS, PWD, Principal Secretaries of Home Department, General Administration Department among others.
During the meeting, Speaker Gupta was also apprised about the progress of the NeVA project, along with other ongoing modernization and renovation initiatives within the Vidhan Sabha premises.
Officials from the PWD informed the Speaker that the entire renovation, including the installation of a solar power plant, is likely be completed by July 27.
Gupta was briefed on the extensive measures being implemented to modernize the Assembly’s infrastructure, aimed to equip the house with state-of-the-art systems to enhance its functioning and transition it into a fully paperless legislature by the Monsoon Session.
Among the key upgrades, which are part of the Delhi Legislative Assembly vision, is introduction of an advanced Digital Conference and Networking System under NeVA to foster transparency, efficiency, and paperless governance.
This system will feature smart delegate units with integrated microphones, voting panels, RFID/ NFC access, and multilingual interpretation support.
The legislators will be provided with i-Pads to access agendas and documents in real time, complemented by an automated audio-visual system with High Definition cameras, centralized control, and a secure, high-speed network with reliable power backup.
Gupta has underscored the significance of adopting modern technology in legislative processes, and reaffirmed the assembly secretariat’s commitment to strengthening efficiency, transparency, and accessibility in the functioning of the legislature, ensuring it remains responsive to the needs and aspirations of the people.
