Senate President Essam Farid stressed on Sunday, (July 5, 2026), the deep-rooted fraternal ties between Egypt and Jordan, underscoring the importance of strengthening parliamentary cooperation to promote coordination on regional and international issues of mutual interest.
Farid made the remarks during a meeting with Jordanian Senate President Faisal Al Fayez and his accompanying delegation to discuss means of enhancing bilateral parliamentary relations.
He described Egypt as Jordan’s “second home,” hailing the longstanding historical ties binding the two nations at all levels.
He also praised the growing cooperation and close coordination between Cairo and Amman on regional and international issues, particularly the Palestinian cause, reiterating Egypt’s unwavering support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and its categorical rejection of any attempts to displace Palestinians or liquidate their cause.
Farid reaffirmed Egypt’s support for Jordan in the face of any threats to its security, stability, and territorial integrity, stressing the need to avoid any actions that could fuel tensions or undermine efforts to promote peace and security in the region.
He also called for closer cooperation between the Egyptian Senate and the Jordanian Senate to exchange expertise, unify visions, and strengthen coordination on issues of common concern.
For his part, Al Fayez expressed pride in visiting Egypt, highlighting the strong fraternal relations between Jordan’s King Abdullah II and President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, and stressing the importance of building on these ties to expand cooperation in various fields.
He praised Egypt’s steadfast support for Arab and Islamic causes, describing Egypt as “the pillar of the Arab world” and commending its historic role in defending Arab interests.
Al Fayez also called for establishing a unified Arab economic union to enhance the region’s ability to address political and economic challenges.
