Governor should speak according to the dignity of his office: Kerala CM

New Delhi: A day after Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan did not allow the appointment of less qualified relatives of the chief minister’s personal employees in universities, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Friday hit back saying Khan was calling “nonsense”.

Referring to the appointment of CPI(M) leader KK Ragesh’s wife, Vijayan’s private secretary, as associate professor of Malayalam at Kannur University, Khan had on Thursday alleged that the controversial posting was in the knowledge of the chief minister.

Addressing the media regarding the anti-drug campaign of the state government, Vijayan said that the governor should speak according to the dignity of his office. “What nonsense is he doing? Is the post of governor to do any kind of nonsense? I have heard he said that the appointment of a relative of the chief minister’s personal employees is in his (chief minister’s) knowledge.

Chief minister’s private team Has no relative? Has that relative not got the rights and privileges of a person? If that person is eligible, why should that person not apply for a job? Should a chief minister be familiar with such things because Is the applicant a relative of his personal staff? Is that person applying for the job after consulting the Chief Minister?” Vijayan said.
