Himachal Pradesh Assembly winter session set for November 16 at Tapovan

Shimla : The 14th Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly is set to convene for its upcoming winter session in Dharamshala, with proceedings scheduled to begin at the Tapovan complex on November 16. The session, which marks the 13th meeting of the current assembly, is slated to span six days, concluding on November 21.

Official confirmation of the schedule was provided by the assembly secretariat following a formal notification issued on October 26. The convening of the session follows an order signed by Governor Kavinder Gupta on October 25, acting under the provisions of Article 174(1) of the Constitution of India.

Session Schedule and Legislative Agenda

According to the provisional calendar released by the secretariat, the session will officially open at 2:00 pm on the first day. The initial proceedings are expected to focus on obituary references, should there be any, before transitioning into the formal legislative and government business agenda.

A notable feature of this winter session is the inclusion of Saturday as a full working day, ensuring that the assembly maintains a consistent pace throughout the six-day period. By designating the weekend day for legislative activity, the government aims to address its planned agenda within the allotted time frame before the session adjourns on November 21.

Context of the Winter Session

The choice of Tapovan in Dharamshala as the venue for the winter session is a standard practice for the state legislature, which frequently alternates its sittings between the capital, Shimla, and the northern town of Dharamshala. This session serves as a critical period for the assembly to deliberate on state-level policies and address pending government business.

As the date approaches, the assembly secretariat is finalizing the necessary arrangements to accommodate the legislative proceedings. Members of the assembly are expected to gather in Dharamshala to participate in the debates and discussions scheduled for the duration of the six-day sitting.
