New Delhi: The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) organised an Interactive Session with
Members of Parliament from Odisha in New Delhi on August 5, 2026, providing a constructive platformfor dialogue between Parliamentarians and Industry on advancing Odisha’s inclusive and sustainable development agenda.
The session witnessed the participation of 10 Members of Parliament, including six Members of the Lok Sabha and four Members of the Rajya Sabha. The interaction facilitated meaningful discussions on priorities, policy perspectives, and opportunities for greater industry collaboration to accelerate the state’s economic and social development.
The industry delegation was led by Sunil Kant Munjal, Past President, CII and Chairman, CII Public Policy Council along with Anil Kumar Singh, Chairman, CII Odisha State Council and Manikanta Naik, Vice Chairman, CII Odisha State Council CII.
The interaction underscored the importance of continued engagement between Parliamentarians, Government and Industry in shaping development-oriented initiatives for Odisha. CII shared its ongoing interventions in the state and reaffirmed its commitment to partnering with all stakeholders to promote industrial growth, employment generation and inclusive economic progress.
Discussions focused on several priority areas critical to Odisha’s long-term development.
Participants deliberated on strategies to generate greater employment opportunities for local youth to reduce migration, strengthen tribal development initiatives, and enhance the state’s export competitiveness. Tourism was recognised as a significant driver of economic growth and employment, with emphasis on unlocking Odisha’s untapped tourismpotential through greater investment and infrastructure development.
The interaction also highlighted the need for focused development of agriculture-based
constituencies through improved productivity, promotion of climate-resilient agricultural practices, and capacity building of farmers by facilitating the adoption of modern technologies.
Participants discussed the potential for establishing MSME Parks and Food Parks to support local enterprises, strengthen value chains, and create sustainable livelihoods.
Women-led development emerged as another important area of discussion, with emphasis on promoting women entrepreneurship, supporting procurement from women entrepreneurs, including those from Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe communities, and strengthening local handicrafts and handloom ecosystems. The deliberations also underscored the need for upskilling textile artisans and enhancing market access for traditional products.
The session concluded with a shared commitment to strengthening partnerships between Parliamentarians, Government and Industry to foster balanced regional development, encourage investments, create sustainable livelihoods, and unlock Odisha’s immense economic potential. CII reaffirmed its commitment to continue serving as a trusted partner in supporting the state’s development priorities through sustained policy advocacy, industry engagement and collaborative initiatives.
