IPU: Empowerment Series for Young Parliamentarians-  International Youth Day 2026: Building Younger And More Diverse Parliaments 0n 12 August

In 2026, the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) will mark International Youth Day by offering a space for sharing and showcasing initiatives to strengthen diversity among women and youth in politics. Knowledge-building and advocacy initiatives aimed at inspiring action to build more representative and inclusive parliaments will be explored, including ones offered through the Women and Youth Democratic Engagement Initiative (WYDE).

The briefing will be an opportunity to:

  • showcase resources and knowledge products on diverse political representation;
  • explore advocacy strategies and initiatives to promote younger and more diverse parliaments;
  • encourage sustained collaboration among young parliamentarians, civil society organizations (CSOs) and partners.

This briefing is part of the IPU Empowerment Series and the WYDE | Women’s Leadership Initiative and will be open to young parliamentarians, WYDE partners, experts and representatives of civil society, including from the Generation Equality Forum.
