Lok Sabha speaker conducts inspection of facilities in parliament house

New Delhi: As part of the ongoing Swachchta Abhiyan, Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla inspected various facilities in Parliament House Complex, today. The Speaker inspected Committee Halls, offices and other places in Parliament House, Parliament Library, Parliament Museum, Media facilities in Parliament House Complex and other areas.

During the inspection, Shri Birla emphasized that in order to maintain the sanctity of the temple of democracy, all efforts should be made to keep it neat and clean. He instructed the Officers concerned to ensure that Parliament House Estate always remain swachha. Shri Birla also inspected the ongoing plantation drive in Parliament House Complex and directed CPWD for ensure proper upkeep of the plants. Shri Birla was apprised about the implementation of the COVID protocol norms in Parliament House Complex and no he directed that there should be no laxity in observance of COVID-mitigation norms.

While inspecting the catering facilities run by ITDC in Parliament House, Shri Birla instructed the agencies concerned to make arrangements for provision of clean, hygienic and nutritious food to users. He also directed them to ensure that utmost priority is given to regular sanitization and fumigation of areas which are used for catering facilities.

In view of the ongoing construction of the new Parliament Building, Shri Birla instructed all necessary steps should be taken towards pollution control and green building norms. He further directed that necessary equipment for checking noise pollution may be installed at the site.

A special cleanliness drive is being observed in Parliament House Estate from 29.10.2021 to 03.11.2021.
