Kolkata: Former West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief Mamata Banerjee has given MPs and MLAs who have left the party 15 days to return.
Addressing a large public gathering in Uttar Dinajpur in north Bengal, she said TMC MPs and MLAs who have left the party would be welcomed if they return within 15 days. However, she warned that those who fail to return within the deadline would have no place in the party.
“Many MLAs and MPs who won with our support are traitors and there is no place for such people in the party. We will return to power. You are the real Trinamool workers. If the MLAs and MPs who left the party return within 15 days, it is fine. Otherwise, they will never have a place in the party again,” Mamata said.
She also attacked the Election Commission and alleged that the BJP would remain in power as long as Gyanesh Kumar continues as the Chief Election Commissioner.
Mamata said she would rebuild and strengthen the TMC in the same way she built the party from scratch in 1998. She said grassroots workers, rather than leaders, are the backbone of the party.
Stressing the TMC’s importance in national politics, she said the INDIA alliance could not become strong without the Trinamool Congress. She urged party workers to strengthen the TMC to fight the BJP.
