Only 2 muslim women in Parliament’, says Iqra Hasan:MP says, ‘Low representation is a wake-up call; urges higher education for girls’

Jhunjhunu : Kairana MP Chaudhary Iqra Hasan on Sunday said the presence of only two Muslim women in Parliament reflects the need to make greater efforts to educate girls and improve their access to higher education.

She was addressing the Islah-e-Muashra and Taleemi Conference organised by the Muslim Welfare Front at Karbala Ground in Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan, where she attended as the chief guest.

Highlighting the importance of education, Hasan said it is the greatest strength for the progress of society and the community. She urged families to ensure that daughters receive quality education and opportunities for higher studies.

Referring to reports of mosques being demolished in border areas, Hasan said such incidents amount to an attack on democratic values. She added that targeting religious places is against the spirit of the Constitution and the rule of law.

Punjab Shahi Imam Maulana Mohammad Usman Ludhianvi, who also addressed the conference, said education has increasingly become commercialised, with institutions focusing only on high-performing students.

He said true education empowers weaker students and helps bring them into the mainstream of society.

A large number of people from the community participated in the conference.
