Parliamentary committee meets BSF jawans posted in Kashmir

Jammu: The Parliamentary Committee on Scheduled Castes and Tribes Affairs, which came on a visit to Kashmir, on Wednesday took care of the Border Security Force personnel posted in Kashmir and also held a meeting with the employees and officers of Jammu and Kashmir Bank.

The Parliamentary Committee held a meeting with the Director-General of Border Security Force, Pankaj Kumar Singh in Srinagar and enquired about the action to be taken to improve the standard of living of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes security personnel in the force and to settle their issues. The issues that came up for discussion included the issues related to the appointment of youth belonging to Scheduled Tribes in the Border Security Force, their promotion.

In the meeting, the Director-General of BSF told the Parliamentary Committee that the rules are strictly followed in the recruitment of SC/ST youth. Along with this, there is also a complete system for resolving the problems of the personnel posted in the force. Members of the Parliamentary Committee met the security personnel of the Scheduled Castes and Tribes included in the Border Security Force and also inquired about the issues. The soldiers told that they have no problem of any kind here. They are getting every arrangement that the government has put here for them.

The same Parliamentary Committee held a meeting with the employees, officers of Jammu and Kashmir Bank in Srinagar and also inquired about the work being done by the bank for the betterment of the employees of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. During this, the committee took information from the employees of the bank about their reservation, recruitment rules along with the promotion, other issues.

The committee has also asked the chairman of the bank to submit a report on the action being taken for the betterment of the employees of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. The Chairman assured the committee members that he would prepare a report in this regard at the earliest and submit it to them.
