Parliamentary panel reviews armed forces preparedness in high-altitude Gulmarg

Gulmarg : The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Defence on Saturday carried out a comprehensive review of the preparedness, operational challenges, and infrastructure of armed forces deployed in border and high-altitude areas of north Kashmir.

The committee visited key strategic locations, including the High Altitude Warfare School (HAWS), the Gulmarg Convention Centre, and the Gulmarg Gondola, officials said.

During the visit, the panel was briefed on the functioning, training modules, and operational readiness of troops operating in mountainous terrains and extreme weather conditions. lThe delegation also travelled to Kongdori and Apharwat to assess the capabilities of personnel stationed in high-altitude zones.

Sources said the committee interacted with senior Army officials and reviewed defence infrastructure, logistics, mobility, and welfare measures for troops deployed along sensitive border regions.

The visit is aimed at evaluating ground-level preparedness and understanding challenges faced by security personnel in snow-bound and strategically significant areas of Kashmir.
