Parliament’s Winter Session to Begin From November 25 and conclude 0n 2 December

New Delhi: The winter session of Parliament will be held from November 25 and will likely conclude by December 20, said Union Parliamentary Affairs Kiren Rijiju.

In a post on X, Union Parliamentary Affairs Kiren Rijiju said, “ Hon’ble President, on the recommendation of Government of India, has approved the proposal for summoning of both the Houses of Parliament for the Winter Session, 2024 from 25th November to 20th December, 2024 (subject to exigencies of parliamentary business).”

Parliamentary Affairs Minister also said that on November 26, 2024 (Constitution Day), 75th Anniversary of the adoption of Constitution, an event would be celebrated in the Central Hall of Samvidhan Sadan in this regard.

Earlier, the Monsoon Session of Parliament concluded on August 9, ahead of its scheduled end on August 12. Both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha were adjourned sine die on Friday, one sitting earlier than planned, following a decision by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla.

During the session, several significant developments took place, including the passage of the Finance Bill. Additionally, a bill to amend the Waqf Act was introduced and referred to a joint parliamentary committee amid protests over its provisions.

On July 23, 2024, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the Union Budget for 2024-2025. The general discussion on the budget lasted 27 hours and 19 minutes, with 181 members participating. The Finance Minister responded to the discussion on July 30, according to Speaker Om Birla.
