PM Modi To Release Book Titled Atal Bihari Vajpayee In Parliament: A Commemorative Volume On The Birth Anniversary Of Former Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee

New Delhi: 25 December marks the 96th birth anniversary of former Prime Minister, ‘Bharat Ratna’ Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee. This day is also celebrated as Good Governance Day. On this occasion, as per past practice, a floral tribute is being organized at his portrait, which was unveiled on 12 February 2019 in the Central Hall of the Parliament. To mark the occasion, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will pay floral tributes and also release a book titled Atal Bihari Vajpayee in Parliament: A Commemorative Volume. This book, published by the Lok Sabha Secretariat, highlights the life and works of Atal ji and contains notable speeches that were delivered by him in the Parliament. The book also contains some rare photographs from Atal ji’s public life.

Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee, elected ten times to the Lok Sabha and twice to the Rajya Sabha, was a parliamentarian par excellence, who had the trust, affection and belief of the people in his leadership. As a parliamentarian and particularly as Prime Minister, Atal ji made innumerable important contributions which paved the way for a stronger economy through bold reforms and rapid development of infrastructure that gave India the Golden Quadrilateral, a mega project connecting the country through world class express highways.

Atal ji also distinguished himself as a fine statesman and a world leader. For exceptional service to the nation and performance of the highest order, he was conferred with the nation’s highest civilian award, Bharat Ratna in 2015. Before this he was also the recipient of the nation’s second-highest civilian award, the Padma Vibhushan in 1992. As a parliamentarian he was awarded with the Pt. Govind Ballabh Pant Award for Best Parliamentarian in 1994, which defines Atal ji as “a role model par excellence for all legislators.”
