New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday stressed the presence of party MPs in Parliament, saying if they do not change themselves, changes can happen with time.
Sources told PTI that the Prime Minister made the remarks at the BJP Parliamentary Party meeting at the Ambedkar International Center here.
Sharing the details of the first meeting outside the Parliament complex, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi said that the Prime Minister told the party MPs that everyone should organize sports competitions in their respective constituencies.
On the issue of attendance, the Prime Minister said that party MPs should regularly attend Parliament proceedings and remarked that even when children repeatedly raise an issue, they do not repeat it.
Sources said that the Prime Minister asked the MPs to change themselves, otherwise change will happen with time. Modi has flagged off the poor attendance of BJP MPs several times in the past.
In the meeting, BJP President JP Nadda asked the party MPs to call the District Presidents and Mandal Presidents from their respective constituencies for tea and talk to them.
Similarly, on December 14, the Prime Minister will call district presidents from his parliamentary constituency Varanasi.
At the beginning of the meeting, tribal MPs including Union Minister Arjun Munda congratulated Prime Minister Modi for celebrating Birsa Munda’s birthday as ‘Jati Jaati Diwas’.
A book compiling the work done by various ministers on Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav was also distributed among BJP MPs.
