Raj Assembly monsoon session to begin from Sept 1

Jaipur: The monsoon session of the Rajasthan legislative assembly is likely to commence on September 1.

State Parliamentary Affairs Minister Jogaram Patel on Thursday said, “The session may commence on September 1 and last for more than 10 days.”

Patel said that consultation in this regard has already been held with Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani and Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma. “I have also talked to leaders of other prominent parties.”
He said that around a dozen bills would be introduced or passed during the session. Some of the bills referred to the Select Committee might also be brought in for discussion and passage.
The Budget Session of the assembly was held between January 31 and March 24. During the 24 sittings, 12 Bills were introduced or passed, and three Bills were referred to the Select Committee. Besides, the State Budget for 2025-26, presented by Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari on February 19, received final approval of the House on March 12.

Despite discharging adequate legislative business, the session was intermittently marred by ruckus, pandemonium, and dharnas in the Well of the House. On one occasion, such disruptions led to the suspension of six Congress members for the remaining period of the session. However, the suspension was later revoked following a suo motu intervention by Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma.
