Rajya Sabha clarifies the absence of Vice President at Nehru Jayanti celebrations

New Delhi: This refers to media reports regarding the absence of Vice President of India M. Venkaiah Naidu at a function in the Central Hall of Parliament on November 14, 2021 to mark the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Late Jawaharlal. Nehru.

In this regard, it is stated that the Vice President of India never attends such functions held in the Central Hall of Parliament as a convention and it was misleading to suggest that Vice President Venkaiah Naidu skipped the ceremony.

According to a statement by the Rajya Sabha Secretariat, the Vice President is deeply pained by the above misleading reports. Naidu, who was out of Delhi on Sunday, paid tributes to former prime minister late Jawaharlal Nehru and the same was reported in the media.
