Telangana CM demands special Parliament session for women’s reservation bill

Hyderabad :  Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Thursday demanded the Centre hold an immediate special session of the Parliament on 33 per cent women’s reservation in legislative bodies.

Paying rich tributes to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on his death anniversary, the Chief Minister said that the INDIA bloc is ready to support women reservation bill in the Parliament.

He said the Modi government created hurdles in the implementation of women’s reservation by linking it to delimitation of Parliamentary constituencies and demanded that the women’s reservation bill not be politicised.

The CM emphasised that women’s reservation in the legislative bodies should be enacted with the inspiration of Rajiv Gandhi, who introduced women’s quota in local bodies for their political empowerment.
