Chandigarh: Vidhansabha Speaker Gian Chand Gupta today reconstituted 14 Vidhansabha committees for 2023-24. He will meet the new presidents on May 2 and review the past year and discuss the future course of action.
Gupta will be the ex-officio chairman of the rules committee. Former CM Bhupendra Hooda, Kiran Chaudhary, Geeta Bhukkal, Ghanshyam Das Arora, Dr. Abhey Singh Yadav, Naina Singh Chautala and Sudhir Singla will be the members of this committee.
Deputy Speaker Ranbir Gangwa will be the ex-officio chairman of the House Committee. MLAs Harvinder Kalyan, Aftab Ahmed, Ram Kumar Gautam and Randhir Singh Golen have been made members.
MLA Narendra Gupta will be the chairman of the Committee of Privileges, while Bishan Lal Saini, Harvinder Kalyan, Vinod Bhayana, Deepak Mangala, Satya Prakash, Varun Chowdhary, Amarjeet Dhanda, Kuldeep Vats, Sombir Sangwan are included as members.
Aseem Goyal has been named as the chairman of the Committee on Violation of Norms of Courtesy with Legislators and Contemptuous Behavior of Government Officials. Kiran Chaudhary, Seema Trikha, Bibi Batra, Mohan Lal Badoli, Nirmal Rani, Pramod Kumar Vij, Jogi Ram Sihag, Renu Bala and Nayan Pal Rawat have been included as members in this committee.
MLAs Seema Trikha, Ram Kumar Kashyap, Narendra Gupta, Bhavya Bishnoi, Amit Sihag, Surendra Panwar, Jogi Ram Sihag, Randhir Singh Golen are nominated members in the Public Accounts Committee.
MLA Satya Prakash will be the chairman of the committee on welfare of SC, ST and BC. MLAs Laxman Napa, Rajesh Nagar, Renu Bala, Shish Pal Singh, Chiranjeev Rao, Ram Karan, Ram Niwas and Dharam Pal Gondar have been made members.
Aseem Goyal has also been named as the chairman of the Committee on Public Undertakings. MLAs Dura Ram, Pradeep Chowdhary, Krishna Lal Middha, Sudhir Singla, Sitaram, Chiranjeev Rao, Kuldeep Vats and Neeraj Sharma will be the members of this committee.
Deepak Mangla will be the chairman of the subject committee on public health, irrigation, electricity and public works (buildings and roads). MLAs Mohammad Ilyas, Vinod Bhayana, Leela Ram, Dharam Singh Chhokar, Krishna Lal Middha, Praveen Dagar, Mamman Khan and Shamsher Singh Gogi will be the members of this committee. MLA Sanjay Singh has been made a special invitee in this committee.
Opposition MLAs also nominated
Repeating the tradition started last year, Congress MLAs have been nominated as heads of House committees this time too.
Mullana MLA Varun Chaudhary has been nominated as the chairman of the Public Accounts Committee.
